The purpose of this qualification is to prepare a learner to function as an Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Assistant
The OHS Assistant is an entry level position into the discipline. This occupation will serve as a platform for further learning. The OHS Assistant provides assistance for the fundamental administration and monitoring functions within the OHS function and it enables the incumbent to gain fundamental knowledge, skills, and experience in the field. The qualified learner will exhibit the following key attributes: Attention to detail, sense of urgency and time management, assertive and compassionate communication, pro-active and diligent application of administrative practices, honesty, and appreciation of ethical values.
A qualified learner will be able to:
- Maintain appropriate OHS document management systems in digital and paper-based formats.
- Execute basic administrative duties required for the management of OHS meetings.
- Apply basic data analysis to compile basic OHS reports using standard reporting formats.
