Crane or Hoist Operator

The purpose of this skills programme is to prepare a learner to operate as a Hydraulic Crane Pick Up and Carry C36 Operator

The learner will understand the high-risk environment in which they will be operating. They will have and understanding of the physics of momentum and how to safely deal in different environments. The learners are also being taught communication skills in a noisy industrial environment. The knowledge also includes the different types of cranes and their application thus giving the learner a perspective of the industry and other employment opportunities in crane or hoist equipment environment. A Hydraulic Crane Pick Up and Carry C36 Operator operate a Hydraulic Crane Pick Up and Carry C36 that is designed and constructed for the purpose of raising or lowering a load or moving it in suspension.

A qualified learner will be able to:

• Conduct Hydraulic Crane Pick Up and Carry C36 pre-start, start up and operational checks
• Conduct mobilisation and demobilisation of a Hydraulic Crane Pick Up and Carry C36
• Operate a Hydraulic Crane Pick Up and Carry C36
• Communicate effectively in various industrial environment
• Identify and have basic operational knowledge of other crane types
