QCTO Occupational Qualification – Trade, Form 3, Implementation Plan Framework for Boilermaker – 93626
The purpose of this qualification is to prepare a learner to operate as a Boilermaker
Marks off and fabricates structural steel and other metal stock to make or repair metal products and structures which may include pressure vessels and pipes.
(Note: Metal Products and Structures include but are not limited to: Manufacture or repaired metal structures, vessels, pipe systems, pressure vessels, heavy duty equipment, sheet metals, road tankers, oilrig stations, mechanical chassis, bins, water tanks, yachts, work boats, high speed vessels, square to rounds, cones, boilers, ducting, water tubes, shell boiler, railway trucks, chutes etc.)
Occupational Tasks
- Interpreting drawings and developing patterns and templates. (NQF Level: 4)
- Selecting, caring for and using /operating trade related hand tools, equipment and machines. (NQF Level: 4)
- Cutting and welding materials and components for fabrication. (NQF Level: 4)
- Fabricating components and/or structures. (NQF Level: 4)
- Erecting and assembling plate and pipe components and structures. (NQF Level: 4)
Note: The framework consists of the Knowledge Module Titles, Practical Module Titles, Workplace Experience Module Titles (if applicable to curriculum), Topics and elements – the developer is required to slot in the page numbers against each topic, topic element and codes which is provided in the framework.
